Colon Hydrotherapy
What is Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy (also known as a Colonic or Colonic Irrigation) is an alternate medical therapy intended to remove faecal waste and unidentified toxins from the colon and intestinal tract. The bacteria and waste that lives in the intestine can affect the whole body, including the immune system.
Initial Consultation Session
Your initial visit will require a consultation before your hydrotherapy session, we will not charge you any extra. The consultation session should last approximately 75 minutes.
What is involved?
Colon hydrotherapy requires water to be gently introduced into the colon using special equipment. The colon cleansing removes accumulations of faeces from the walls of the large intestine which are believed to putrefy and harbour parasites, causing general ill-health.
The treatment should last approximately 60 minutes. No preparation is required from you, although we advise you not to eat a large meal or drink large quantities before a treatment.
What conditions does it help treat?
Colon hydrotherapy is believed to help deal with many health problems including allergies, halitosis, bloating, bowel cleansing, chronic fatigue syndrome, constipation, cough, parasites, diarrhoea, lethargy, body odour, flatulence, headaches, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne plus many other conditions. Evidence from studies has also shown that warm water being irrigated may help reduce the occurrence of colonic spasms.
How many treatments are required?
This differs from person to person and advice will be given after your first treatment. However, between two and four treatments are usually required for the initial cleansing, after which it may be advisable to have less frequent treatments as a preventative measure.
Is it safe?
Yes. We are fully qualified therapists so you are in good hands. Your comfort and safety is our primary concern and all equipment is sterilised before use.
Under what circumstances should this treatment NOT be performed?
Performing colon hydrotherapy should not be done on those who have diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, internal or severe haemorrhoids or tumours in the colon or rectum. It should also not be performed after a bowel surgery. You should not use this procedure often if you have heart or kidney disease. We would also not recommend colon hydrotherapy during pregnancy and up to 12 weeks after a regular childbirth.
